THE PALEO TO THE PRESENT

Blue Rock Heritage Center

WASHINGTON BORO, PENNSYLVANIA

FAST FACT

If England’s King George II hadn’t put his foot down in 1767, about half of present-day Washington Boro would’ve had a Maryland address.

FAST FACT

In the mid-1800s, it was said “if a person were to stand on the banks of the Susquehanna at Washington Boro, look north to Columbia, then south to Turkey Hill, they would see a river clogged with arks and rafts anchored and ready to offload their cargo.”

FAST FACT

Washington Boro’s Conejohela Flats hosts up to 17,000 migratory shorebirds during migration. A total of 37 shorebird species has been recorded at this site.
